Blog Post Week 1

  1. The questions we are investigating are what will our future classroom look like and how will we keep our students engaged?
  2. To investigate this question in lab we drew a rough sketch of our classroom layout. My partner and I drew cubbies, cabinet space, a library, and more. We felt that decorating the library with comfortable chairs and placing posters throughout the room would keep our students engaged. We made sure to create group tables, so we can let our students collaborate and communicate throughout the day.
  3. We figured out that many groups had a space for students to sit on the carpet. Students must have the opportunity to sit somewhere else that is not their desk. It refreshes the mind and will keep them engaged. A majority of the groups had group tables rather than individual seats. They must have done this for the sake of collaboration and communication.
  4. What are some classroom essentials to keep students engaged? How can we motivate our students?

  1. Hi Sid! I also want group tables in my future classroom for collaboration and communication. I think that encouraging collaboration is super important and it makes learning more fun. I like your idea for fun chairs by the little classroom library, it could motivate students to be excited to read!

  2. Hi Sid! I like your idea of having cubbies for students to put their things in and you had a great idea with the comfortable seating in the library area. I agree with Ava that the seating could motivate students to explore the library more! And I feel the same as you with my questions remaining of how can I motivate students? I enjoyed reading about the classroom you designed!

  3. Hi Sid!
I am also interested in the questions that you listed as your remaining questions. I would love to hear a professional's opinion on certain aspects of a classroom that are deemed "essential for success." I would also guess that success is defined differently in each classroom and can change each year. I would also be curious to know what research has to say about the best ways to motivate students.
